Additional Taxpayer Assistance Programs

The Senior Citizens Real Estate Tax Deferral Program allows qualified seniors to defer all or part of their property taxes on an owner-occupied residence. It's a form of loan with a six percent interest rate. The loan would be repaid after the taxpayers' death or at the time when the properties sold, whichever comes first. You must be at least 65 years of age by June 1, have occupied the property for at least three years and have a household income not more than $55,000 and the application must be filed by March 1.
