Your Grafton Township Assessors Office would like to remind everyone, that we do not send out the tax bills. We receive many calls each day asking when we will send them - the short answer is: never. They are sent out from the County Treasurers Office. They have published that they will be mailed out Friday, so you should expect to see them next week.

We also want to remind you that we do not calculate the tax rate. Our office only provides an assessment on your property to the county assessor for equalization. Then you can typically appeal the equalized value with the Board of Review in late summer, or the fall.

If you call the assessors office to complain about your property tax bill, we will be respectful and listen, but there is little to nothing that we can do to lower your tax rates. The primary thing we can do is make sure that you have all of your current exemptions that you qualify to receive. Please understand that it is months too late to modify 2012 assessments, which are the assessments used for the current tax bills.

Regardless, we will get hundreds of calls, and we would like to ask for your patience in advance over the coming weeks.

Regards,

John Collier, CIAO
Deputy Assessor

PS. To really make a difference in your tax rates, you have to get involved, stay involved, and elect taxing body officials that will curtail spending and minimize your tax levy.
